Whissendine Windmill, Rutland

Whissendine StonesA 60 foot high tower mill built in 1810, and restored in 1996 after being idle for 74 years. Its most interesting feature is the Wegman’s Roller Mill, dating from 1878, and a forerunner of modern roller mills, with porcelain rolls (modern rolls are steel).

Opening: Most Sundays (Ring ahead to avoid disappointment).
