Worsbrough Watermill, Yorkshire

Worsbrough Mill is a 17 th century working watermill, set in a beautiful 240 acre country park.
Its owned and run by Barnsley Museums (Barnsley Council), and has lots to offer for a great
family day out.

Worsbrough Mill Exterior

The mill is made up of two buildings, the ‘Old Mill’, believed to have been built in 1625, and
the ‘New Mill’ built in the mid-19 th century.
Worsbrough Mill still produces flour, using a pair of 19 th century ‘French Burr’ stones
powered by a cast iron water wheel, installed in 1865. It is also home to a rare Hornsby hot-
bulb oil engine, formally from Sykehouse Windmill, which has been rebuilt in the engine
room of the New Mill.
